COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak

Dear IIFET Friends and Colleagues,

After much consideration, the IIFET Executive Committee and the IIFET 2020 organizers have determined that IIFET 2020 will not take place in 2020. The current state of the world due to the COVID-19 pandemic has created too much uncertainty to successfully host an international conference this year and it is highly likely that international travel and large gatherings of people will still be restricted at that time.

Since all abstracts have already been reviewed for IIFET 2020, we plan to honor the status of accepted abstracts for the next IIFET conference. Authors will be given the option to modify/update their abstracts to include new results.

Best paper awards for 2020 will still go ahead and the submission dates for these remains 30 April 2020.

We are currently discussing alternatives and will provide updates as they develop. If you have specific questions or concerns, please email Kat.Goetting@oregonstate.edu. This is an unprecedented situation for all of us, so thank you for your patience and understanding in this process.

We wish you, your families, and your loved ones health and safety in these trying times.

Sincerely,
Team IIFET: Sean, Marty, Loli, Sebastian, Pepe, Fernando, Kat, and Ann

20th Biennial Conference of the International Institute of Fisheries Economics and Trade (IIFET)

Dear colleagues,

The International Institute of Fisheries Economics & Trade (IIFET) is a global organization consisting 700+ members from over 65 countries around the world. IIFET provides an international forum for the exchange of research, information, and ideas on the economics of fisheries management, seafood trade, and aquaculture.

Our goal is to advance the productive use of economic theory and analysis to answer critical questions surrounding the sustainable use of marine resources and to ensure future livelihoods of those who produce food from the sea.

Through this website we will keep you updated with all the information regarding this upcoming event, an important forum for members and others to learn about important research developments in seafood trade, aquaculture, and fisheries management. As in our previous conferences our meeting is going to be attended by fisheries, social scientists, managers, and industry members from all of the world's fishing areas. Keynote speakers and submitted papers address a variety of both applied and theoretical topics. These conferences provide participants with unparalleled opportunities to interact with the world's foremost fisheries economists in both formal and informal settings. They also allow us to visit a wide variety of international locations to learn more about fishing and aquaculture activities across the globe..

We hope to welcome you in Galicia, a coastal Spanish region that is closely related to the sea life and trade, with Vigo being one of the main ports for fishing and transportation worldwide.
